TGI bathtime…

When our 3 boys were young, my husband worked long hours in London and New York so wasn’t often home for dinner time or bathtime. So it was down to me - at the end of the day, tovfeed, clean and get these rascals to sleep. The thing that saved me was - BATHTIME!

It was like an activityto end the day, we would often go upstairs for bathtime early - and once we were upstairs the boys knew from an early age, that this was the end of the day - no going back downstairs! It divided the day up for me, and once in the bathroom - we were all in one room, playing , getting clean and generally winding down.

It felt like a relief to finally be upstairs - like I was on the home straight of the day, peace and quiet were on the horizon! They all loved being in the water, and I loved them all being clean! Even no.3 being tiny, he was in a bath support so meant I was also hands free for a bit which was a huge relief! And bit by bit we found our routine of who would get out first - normally the youngest, so I could get him changed and feed him. I would bring pjs into the bathroom so I had everything there , getting them dry and dressed one by one, and then we had story time. Most of the time if felt chilled and calm, and when those last few hours of the day felt liek the withching hours of tears and tantrums, we would switch it up - go upstairs and so bathtime became a lifesave to me, kept me sane, and from day one - meant that we had a good routine for bed time andsleep.

(*disclaimer - it wasn’t all easy and rosy and there were times when it was mayhem, even upstairs but generally, the one thing that saved me being solo at nightime with 3 under 5 was bathtime!)
